Lumecca is an intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment. It uses broad-spectrum light to target unwanted pigment and redness in the skin, helping even out tone and clarity.
What Lumecca can treat
- Sun spots, age spots and uneven pigmentation
- Sun damage on the face, neck, chest and hands
- Redness and flushing
- Visible vessels and broken capillaries
Who it's for
Lumecca may suit you if you'd like clearer, more even-toned skin. IPL isn't right for every skin type or for recently tanned skin, so we assess your skin, history and sun exposure at your consultation before recommending it.
What to expect
We'll cleanse your skin, apply a cooling gel and fit you with protective eyewear. You'll feel quick flashes of warmth, often compared to a light snap. A facial treatment usually takes under an hour.
Downtime
Most people return to their day right away. Skin may look pink for a few hours, and treated spots often darken before flaking away over the following week or so. Daily sunscreen is important before and after treatment.
Common questions
How many Lumecca sessions will I need?
Most plans include a short series of sessions spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. We'll suggest a plan for your skin.
Can I have IPL if I have a tan?
For the safest and most effective results, Lumecca IPL is best performed on skin that hasn't been recently tanned. Sun exposure and tanning can increase the risk of skin reactions, so we recommend waiting until your tan has completely faded before treatment.
