Your skin needs a winter routine too

How to adjust your routine when Calgary turns cold and dry.

Snow-covered Rocky Mountain peaks under a clear blue winter sky

Calgary's colder months can be hard on your skin. Dry air, indoor heating and unpredictable weather can leave it feeling tight, sensitive or less radiant.

Hydrate and support your skin barrier

A richer moisturizer and hydrating ingredients can help reduce moisture loss, especially when your skin feels tight or flaky. Apply it while your skin is still slightly damp, and choose lukewarm water over hot when you wash.

Exfoliate with care

If your skin is feeling dry or sensitive, you may need to use exfoliating acids or retinoids less often. Ease back until it settles, then reintroduce them slowly.

Keep the SPF

UV exposure doesn't disappear in winter, and snow reflects it back at you. Make sunscreen part of your daily routine, all year round.

Let your routine change with your skin

What worked in July may not be what your skin needs in January. Pay attention to how your skin feels and adjust as the season changes.
